Tips and Tricks

I will be adding to this page, as I remember or think of tips to make your stay more enjoyable. And to help you be prepared.
Tip # 01
When you are going to use a cup or a bowl, always check it first for bugs. If you pour your drink into the cup without checking, it might be too late. So pour it out, make sure there are no bugs, then pour a fresh cup.
Tip # 02
Always wipe your feet BEFORE putting on your socks. Since they don’t vacuum, there are always little pebbles at all levels in the carpet. You don’t want to walk on pebbles all day, do ya? Wipe your feet first.
Tip # 03
Get a wave editor, so you can create different kinds of white noise. You’re going to need it.
Tip # 04
Before checking in, save yourself some time and trouble- buy toilet cleaning supplies including a brush. And while you are there, get cleaning supplies for everything you can imagine, because I don’t know what happens in other rooms, but mine hadn’t been cleaned for ages when I first came in, and, as I’ve stated in other places on this site, housekeeping will make appointments with you, but if you expect them to show up or to do any housekeeping, you will be sorely disappointed. I know.
Tip # 05
This is related to Tip # 04- keep supplies for your body hidden. I had bought a special brush for the bottoms of my feet (cuz they were itching!). Although housekeeping leaves everything to be desired, they actually cleaned the shower floor once- WITH MY BRUSH! Go figure. And it was ruined. Best to do like I do and clean the shower while you are cleaning your body. And don’t use an overly fatty cleanser as it accumulates on the floor.
Tip # 06
Don’t get your coffee from the office. That was one of the few perks they had for customers, but the newest manager, Manager5-J, did away with that immediately after she started. I though, know better- I make my own using a small pot to heat the water, and a french press for brewing. Another tip is to use a filter bag for the french press- you don’t have to deal with loose grounds. I sometimes worry that the hot water from the faucet won’t temper the glass french press enough. The worry is that when pouring water for brewing into the french press, there is a possibility that the water could be too hot, and it would crack the glass of the coffee maker. Like I like to say, “be prepared.”
Tip # 07
Be sure that you know how to use your smartphone as a modem. You never know when WIFI won’t be working. And you know how it is in life- it won’t be working when you need it the most. So, all I ask is that you be prepared.
Tip # 08
Light. Where would civilization be without light? You might want to bring your own light bulbs, or, like in my case, your own light fixture. Except in my case, I had no warning, and had to buy it after I started my stay at Extended Stay America.
Tip # 09
Bring your own pots and pans. You don’t want metal specks in your food, do you?
Tip # 10
Look before you scratch. You don’t want to scratch a bug. It’s better to view the scratch site first, and make sure there are no crawling bugs on your skin.
Trick # 01
Recently, they closed the laundry room a couple of times for “repairs.” Although the same machines were out of order each time it opened up again, the prices were higher. Well, I guess Trick # 01 is really two tricks, albeit the same, but performed twice. Maybe three times!
What have I gotten myself into on this page!@? If I were to list all the tricks, I would need another website. There are just too many tricks. Like I say, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is a trick or a manipulation- just read this site. Tricks and manipulations described all throughout this website. They are blasting the TV next door right now, but that is one of their favorite harassments, goes on almost all the time. It usually isn’t as bad when you first get back from wherever you were outside of the property.
Trick # 02
The following is from the article entitled, “The Actress.”
… That night the phone rang. This was some time after the Actress had left and I had not seen her in a while. The voice said: “Hi. I am with the hotel. They asked me to call you to tell you that the water will be turned off tomorrow.” I said, “Thank you,” and we hung up. The voice was… The Actress!
And the water was not turned off that day. So funny! Ha-ha-ha-ha! Aren’t they funny? Be careful you don’t bust a gut!
